Chris Hedges on The Wages of Rebellion

In this talk Chris Hedges covers a few things: contentious intersections of conservative Christianity and sexual orientation, supporting marginalized voices, the myth of “neutrality” when considering social justice, the criminal injustice system, war, hope, and more.

Ultimately he talks about power, the costs that come with going against the grain, and the need to resist anyway.

“Morality isn’t taught finely it’s always, shown. In a closed, safe environment a lot of people can talk a lot. It’s when you step out of that environment and have the courage to stand for something that it has that kind of seismic impact on everyone around you.”

I'm a Social Justice Educator and Aspiring Humanitarian who is interested in conflict resolution, improving intergroup relations, and building more equitable and inclusive communities. "Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian" is my blog, where I write about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.
