What was I saying again???

From MAWMEDIA: “Writing: The Draft-ing Habit”

Here’s a great post from Dr. Michael A.Wright over at MAWMEDIA Group that really speaks to my tendency to get writer’s block every now and again. Dr. Wright was also featured earlier this year in The People Who Inspire Series.

Dr. Wright’s post, entitled “Writing: The Draft-ing Habit” lists 3 fallacies that can prevent us from doing the work and realizing our writing potential.

Fallacy #1: If I am going to write, what I write has to be long enough to be good.

Fallacy #2: Drafts are not important and are for people without well-formed thoughts.

Fallacy #3: I must work on one project continually until it is finished before moving to another project.

I hope his sharing helps you as much as it has helped me.

What are some things that help you to get back on track when you have writer’s block?

Grace & Peace,

From Aspiring Humanitarian, Relando Thompkins, MSW

I'm a Social Justice Educator and Aspiring Humanitarian who is interested in conflict resolution, improving intergroup relations, and building more equitable and inclusive communities. "Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian" is my blog, where I write about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.
