Putting It All In Perspective: The Pale Blue Dot

The world can be a very cold place, but it can also be a wonderful one. All of the historically rooted conflicts that are currently taking place can cause us to forget our connections to one another.

This video helped me to pause and reflect on those connections.

Realizing that we are all that we have; conflicts and all can be anxiety provoking. Yet, this realization can also present us with opportunities to change harmful the ways we treat each other.

“The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena.”

“To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the only home we’ve ever known; the pale blue dot.” —Carl Sagan

I'm a Social Justice Educator and Aspiring Humanitarian who is interested in conflict resolution, improving intergroup relations, and building more equitable and inclusive communities. "Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian" is my blog, where I write about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.
