Twitter Chat On Macro Social Work Offers Important Resources for Students, Professionals

Moderated by Karen Zgoda, here is the transcript of last night’s #MacroSW chat on twitter entitled “Everything You Wanted To Know About Macro Social Work But Were Afraid to Ask“.

I’m re-posting the resources that were gathered before the chat took place because they can serve as important references whether you’re new to learning about Macro Social Work, or are a current practitioner:

#MacroSW Chats is collaboration Between the Association for Community Organization and Social Administration (ACOSA), University at Buffalo School of Social Work, the Network for Social Work Management (NSWM), and Karen Zgoda (Instructor at Bridgewater State University). I'm a Social Justice Educator and Aspiring Humanitarian who is interested in conflict resolution, improving intergroup relations, and building more equitable and inclusive communities. "Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian" is my blog, where I write about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.

Thank you for the kind words!! I’m so glad you enjoyed the chat last night and it was great to have you there participating. What are your suggestions for making the chat better? What macro social work topics would you like to see covered?

    • You’re very welcome Karen! I’m not always able to attend, but I was very happy to be able to be in community with you all last night. And those resources are golden. I plan on sharing them with students in a course I’m teaching next week.

I’ll have to think about ways to improve the chat, and topics that I’d like to see covered. I’m all about the importance of personal work, equity and inclusion, so I know there’s a variety of topics that could come out of their implications for Macro Social Work, but I’m going to think on it.

Also, I’m not sure how the process works, but I’d also like to become a supportive partner to #MacroSW if possible. I already have the website in my blogroll :-)
