Busier Than Ever: A Rose and A Thorn

Since transitioning into my new role, I haven’t had much time for writing lately. In many ways, that is a rose because it means that I’m living out my mission and values by doing more of the rewarding, redeeming, but very difficult work of building better relationships and more equitable and inclusive communities.

However, even though I’m having all these new experiences, the realization that I have not been able to set aside time to reflect on them in written form has definitely been a thorn for me, as writing has been an important outlet of expression and a very important part of my own self-care process.

Taking some time this weekend to put some thoughts down on paper.

I'm a Social Justice Educator and Aspiring Humanitarian who is interested in conflict resolution, improving intergroup relations, and building more equitable and inclusive communities. "Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian" is my blog, where I write about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.
