Combatting Anti-Blackness and White Supremacy in Organizations: Recommendations for Anti-Racist Actions in Mental Healthcare
Therapist Babe Kawaii-Bogue, PhD, LCSW has prepared a guide that organizations and institutions in the field of mental health can use to combat anti-Blackness and white supremacy within themselves. Although this guide is already rapidly making its way around the country, I am sharing the news here in an effort to spread it across my own network of readers; many of whom are practicing Social Workers or serve in other roles in the field of mental health.

I recognized the overwhelming need for guidance on how to transform the way Black lives are valued in the workplace and in the field of mental healthcare. There exists a pressing and heightened need for strategies to combat anti-Blackness and white supremacy in these arenas. This guide exists to address this need.“
“Please use this guide in your department, organization and institution to help create lasting systemic change for Black lives. Currently, this guide is being used across the U.S. in various institutions and mental healthcare spheres, including the: Social Work Coalition for Anti-Racist Educators, San Francisco Department of Public Health, San Francisco Unified School District, various college/university campuses, and the American Psychological Association’s presidential task force created to address police brutality.“
